INFORMATION FOR DOCUMENT AUTHENTICATION AND NOTARIZATION

1. All documents emanating from Province of B. C. and the Territory of Yukon to be used in China have to be done as follows:

A. Document(s) should first be notarized by a notary public or a lawyer;

B. Secondly be legalized by the local provincial authorities( please refer to the address below );

C. Finally be authenticated by the Chinese Consulate-General.

 

Note: Documents originating from areas other than Province of B. C. and the Territory of Yukon should be authenticated by the Chinese Embassy in Ottawa, the Consulate General in Toronto or in Calgary.

 

2. Fees for document authentication and notarization:

A. $30 per document for documents such as Birth Certificate, Death Certificate, Working Experience and Professional Title, Kinship,  Declaration and Affidavit of Financial Support, Marital Status, Marriage & Divorce Certificate, Personal Identification, etc. and documents concerning Adoption or Student's Admission.

B. $60 per document for documents concerning Right of Inheritance, Power of Attorney, Wills and Housing Transfer Declaration, Estates and Properties, Trade Mark Registration.

 

3. All fees should be paid in Canadian Currency by debit card, company cheque or Money Order made payable to the Chinese Consulate General. The Consulate does not accept cash, credit card or personal cheque.

 

4. Processing of the document authentication and notarization takes four working days. For special cases, rush service is provided. An extra $35 is charged for the rush service within 48 hours.
