Taking "Better Design, Better Life" as its theme, The shanghai Design Biennial (SDB) will be Held in Shanghai during Sep. 14-16, 2006.

 

The purpose of the Exhibition is to exchange design concepts, to share design experience, to develop design market and to create business opportunities, with a tenet of "To build up a bridge to connect domestic and abroad designers, consumers, enterprises and markets".

 

The former name of SDB was "Shanghai International Design and Innovation Forum and Exhibition " held in Shanghai in 1999. The latter was composed of Sino-Italy Industrial Design Week and Innovation Design Exhibition. The Industrial Design Week consisted of Industrial Design Forum and several seminars such as Environment & Architecture Design, Jewelry Design and Product Design. The Exhibition covered 8,000 m² and showed innovation products of industrial design (home electric appliances, instruments, machines etc.), architecture design and upholster, finery, advertisements etc. During the preparation of the 2^nd session in 2004, the organizers renamed activity as "Shanghai Design Biennial" after consulting a lot of expertise and decided to hold SDB biyearly. Thus, after several sessions, SDB will coincide with the convocation of 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
