Consul General TONG Xiaoling Attends the FCCBC Spring Festival Gala Dinner

On Feb. 11, Consul General TONG Xiaoling attended the Spring Festival Gala Dinner hosted by the Families with Children from China, BC (hereinafter, FCCBC) at the Vancouver Chinatown. More than 60 FCCBC families, including 107 children were present.

Consul General TONG introduced the origin of the Spring Festival, its cultural significance and traditional customs to the families and kids. She thanked the FCCBC for the invitation to join and celebrate this important festival together, which made her feel at home. She also expressed appreciation for the FCCBC families' love and care for the adopted Chinese children and their efforts to help the children maintain cultural connection with China and wished the children will grow up to be ambassadors of the two countries.

Mr. Eamon Duffy, FCCBC Co-Chair thanked Consul General TONG to attend the Gala Dinner during her busiest time of the year and appreciate the privilege for FCCBC to have a Chinese Consul General at their event for the first time. He thanked the children for bringing happiness to the FCCBC families, and be the inspiration for these families to learn about Chinese culture. He also pointed out that the FCCBC families would be willing to be a bridge between Chinese and Canadian peoples and play a positive role in the 2018 Year of Tourism between China and Canada.

Lion dance, Chinese folk dances, were performed during the gala dinner, dumpling games and other entertainment were designed. All the guests are immersed themselves in the happiness.
