Consul General TONG Xiaoling Calls on Premier of British Columbia

On December 15, Consul General TONG Xiaoling called on Hon. John Horgan, Premier of the Province of British Columbia (BC).

Consul General Tong congratulated Mr. Horgan on his election as the Premier of BC. She acknowledged the contributions by the previous BC New Democratic Party (NDP) governments in the promotion of friendly relationship with China.

Consul General Tong pointed out that the current NDP government's pledge to put people first is highly compatible with Chinese Communist Party's people-centered concept as written in the key political document from its 19th National Congress. She hoped that, to benefit the two peoples, Premier Horgan will keep working together with the Consulate to explore new growth points and bright spots to further strengthen and promote the pragmatic cooperation between China and BC in areas like energy, trade and investment, clean technology, tourism, winter Olympics, high-speed railway, and traditional Chinese medicine.  She welcomed Premier Horgan's upcoming China visit in next January and wished him a fruitful trip.

Consul General Tong also briefed Premier Horgan on the recent successful visit by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to China.

Premier Horgan welcomed Consul General Tong to Vancouver to take her office and said that his Party and himself have always attached great importance to the relationship with China. He is looking forward to establishing good personal and working relationship with Consul General Tong and making further steps to deepen bilateral cooperation in areas that are mutually beneficial .
