Consul General TONG Xiaoling Attends the Year-end Consular Corps Festive Celebration
2017/12/10

On December 6, Consul General TONG Xiaoling addressed at the CA Chinese 2017--Gold Starlight Gala hosted by China Gold International.

Consul General TONG pointed out that, China Gold has put consistent efforts in undertaking its corporate social responsibilities (CSR) over the past years, and has further committed itself to intensifying and specifying input to cover a wider range of areas such as environmental protection in mining projects, special case studies on development in mining communities, assistance to First Nations communities in its China Development Strategy, and continuing projects on cancer prevention. It has set a good example for all Chinese enterprises and built up a positive image of the overseas Chinese businesses. TONG expected to hear more "good Chinese stories" from China Gold and other Chinese enterprises in Canada.

Consul General TONG quoted President Xi Jinping's report at the 19th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party that "China will not close its door to the world. We will only become more and more open". China is committed to engaging in broader and deeper cooperation with the rest of the world. China will implement policies and measures to increase openness and promote high-standard liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment. As part of its efforts to open wider to the world as well as its commitment to pushing forward economic globalization, China will hold China International Import Expo in Shanghai on an annual basis starting from next year. Canadian businesses are welcome to participate in the Expo.

TONG also encouraged the enterprises on both sides to make greater efforts to advance actual cooperation in various fields and translate potential into reality, so as to contribute to the creation of the new "golden decade" for the relationship of our two great nations.

All Canadian speakers at the event highly praised China Gold's efforts in undertaking its CSR, and expressed their willingness to jointly push forward China-Canada relations.
