Acting Consul General KONG Weiwei Hosted Reception in Honour of the UBCM 2017 Convention

On Sept. 27, Mr. KONG Weiwei, Acting Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Vancouver, hosted a reception in honour of the UBCM 2017 Convention. More than 600 UBCM delegates attended the reception.

Mr. KONG briefed the guests on China's economic and social achievements and China-Canada cooperation, emphasized that China attached great importance to China-BC relationship. 2018 is the Year of Tourism between China and Canada. 2022 Winter Olympic Games will be held in China. China is willing to make joint efforts with the Canadian side to further promote the bilateral cooperation to benefit the two peoples. He also introduced the outcomes of Belt and Road Summit for International Cooperation and the Brics Summit.

Mr. Al Richmond, UBCM Executive member and Chair of Cariboo Regional District expressed appreciation on behalf of UBCM to the Chinese Consulate General for providing a platform for local governments to know about China and the potential areas for China-Canada cooperation in trade, culture, education, science and technology. The participating local leaders spoke highly of China's concept of mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation and look forward to more exchanges with China.
