H.E. Consul General LIU Fei Hosted Reception to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Hong Kong's Return to China

On June 23, H.E. LIU Fei, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Vancouver, hosted the Reception to Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Hong Kong's Return to China and establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region(HKSAR). More than 400 Representatives of federal, provincial and local governments, business, academia, local Chinese community, overseas Chinese students and enterprises were present.

Consul General LIU Fei said, the past 20 years have witnessed successful implementation of the "One Country, Two Systems" in HKSARand proved it fell within Hong Kong's interest. Hong Kong will embrace a brighter future giving full play to the institutional advantages of self autonomy while at the same time adhering firmly to the "One Country, Two Systems" Principle and the Basic Law of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Ms. Kathy Chan, Director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office(Toronto)reviewed the 20 years practice of "one country, two systems" in Hong Kong, expressed appreciation for the strong support of the Chinese Central Government. Hong Kong will seize the opportunity of "Belt and Road Initiative" and "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Big Bay Area", to not only maintain but strengthenits competitiveness.

Government representatives, MP Jenny Kwan, Minister Teresa Wat and guests of all works of life sent congratulations and affirmed to play a positive role in deepening Canada's relationship with China Mailand and Hong Kong.
