H.E. Consul General LIU Fei Drops the Puck at Canucks Game

On March 31, H.E. LIU Fei, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China dropped the ceremonial puck for the game between Vancouver Canucks and U.S. Los Angeles Kings at Rogers Arena in downtown Vancouver.

The pre-game ceremony was held to share the news about a recent China initiative of the NHL. On March 30, the NHL announced in Beijing that Vancouver Canucks and LA Kings will play two preseason games in China this September as part of the 2017 NHL China Games. It will be the first time for the NHL in China. In her interview with Fox Sports, Consul General LIU pointed out that, China will host 2022 Winter Olympics and the Chinese government encourages more winter sports for the Chinese people. More and more Chinese people take part in winter sports. She believed that the NHL will play an active role to further promote and expand winter sports including ice hockey among the Chinese people.
