Consul General LIU Fei Attended the Lunar New Year Reception hosted by Mayor Gregor Robertson

On Feb. 3, H.E. LIU Fei, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Vancouver, attended the Lunar New Year Reception hosted by Mayor Gregor Robertson of Vancouver.

Consul General LIU expressed appreciation to the City of Vancouver, the Vancouver Park Board Commission and representatives from Asian communities for their support in developing a sound and favorable China-Vancouver relationship, and the willingness to make joint efforts in further promoting bilateral cooperation. She pointed out that the 44th Lunar New Year Parade at Vancouver Chinatown was a great success and thanks to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's presence, Vancouver had become even more famous among Chinese tourists. We looked forward to more personnel exchanges with 2018 proclaimed as China-Canada Year of Tourism by the two national governments. She also sent regards to the City of Vancouver as Dean of the Consular Corps of British Columbia.

Mayor Gregor Robertson said, Lunar New Year was a holiday celebrated by Local Chinese and other Asian Communities. The City of Vancouver was pleased to embrace such diversified celebration activities. In Chinatown, Lunar New Year Parade organized by the local Chinese community celebrated its 44th anniversary, and the City of Vancouver proudly hosted annual Lunar New Year Reception. This part of the city reflected the history and dignity of the Chinese Canadians. The City Council would work with local Chinese Community to protect while injecting vigor to it. And as always, the City of Vancouver looked forward to strengthening the relationship with China and Asian Countries.
