Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying's Remarks on Shooting Attack in Istanbul, Turkey

Q: On the early morning of January 1 local time, a shooting attack took place in a nightclub in Istanbul, Turkey, which has killed at least 39 and injured 60 people. The Turkish government said it was a terrorist attack. What is your comment?

A: Foreign Minister Wang Yi has sent his condolences to Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu over this shooting attack. China strongly condemns this attack and firmly opposes all forms of terrorism. We stand ready to enhance coordination and cooperation with the Turkish side and the international community to maintain peace and security of the region and beyond.
